Stefano Amerighi is a pioneer in his field, who was declared crazy when he bought vineyards in southeastern Tuscany and then planted Syrah there. Many years later, his experiment turned out to be a great success. Amerighi's wine is beloved by connoisseurs and a nice change from all the Sangiovese dominance.
This biodynamically produced wine has a beautiful purple color and smells of cherries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and violets. Medium-bodied, with a focus on fruitiness on the palate and a fresh minerality for balance. The finish is surprisingly long, with the fruit lingering on the palate for a long time. High in acidity, with polished tannins. I recommend decanting this wine for an hour or two.
Delicious with pizza, barbecue, and game.
