Sorì San Lorenzo 2021 displays a powerful nose of roses, dark berry, earth, graphite and spices. The intensity and complexity are typical of this cru.
On the palate, it is deep and taut, with firm tannins, ripe fruit and a distinctly mineral undertone. The finish is long, intense and layered.
Vinification.
The grapes are hand-picked from the steep plot. After destemming, they undergo a long skin maceration with regular pump-overs for maximum effect. Alcoholic fermentation proceeds with minimal intervention. The wine ages for approximately 12 months in barriques, followed by over 12 months in large oak barrels, after which a period of bottle aging ensures additional integration and refinement.
The domain.
Sorì San Lorenzo is one of Gaja's oldest and most prestigious plots. Its mineral-rich soil and southern exposure yield wines with intensity, structure, and exceptional aging potential.
The domain invests heavily in sustainable methods such as contour planting against erosion, natural compost, biodiversity projects, solar energy, and minimal mechanical interventions. This ensures the unique identity of the terroir is maximally preserved.
