The 2019 Rennina displays aromas of cherry, blackberry, Mediterranean herbs, cedar and floral nuances. The wine is elegantly structured, with ripe red fruit, lively acidity and refined tannins. The finish is long, aromatic and pure.
Vinification.
The grapes are hand-harvested in multiple passes. After a gentle fermentation in stainless steel with controlled extraction, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in wood. It ages for 24–30 months in large Slavonian casks, supplemented by a limited amount of barrique for extra finesse. Finally, 6–12 months of bottle aging follows, enhancing its elegance and aromatic definition.
The estate.
Pieve Santa Restituta is built on ancient vineyard lands and was fully restored by Gaja starting in 1994.
Sustainability is central: organic practices, restoration of soil structure, protection of olive groves, and minimization of water usage. The focus is on pure Sangiovese and maximum terroir expression. Rennina is the most elegant wine of the estate.
