Viña Magna Crianza 2020 is the elegant expression of Dominio Basconcillos' high-altitude terroir. Subtle toast and roasted notes first emerge on the nose, followed by intense aromas of red fruit. With aeration, mineral accents typical of the high altitude and calcareous soils also appear, complemented by floral notes such as violets. On the palate, the wine is broad and enveloping, with a round structure, a remarkably fresh acidity, and soft tannins that harmoniously support the whole. The finish is long and spicy, with persistent fruit and tension.

Winemaking.
The grapes are hand-harvested in 14 kg boxes and selected on the sorting table upon arrival. The must goes by gravity to the tank. A cold pre-fermentative maceration of 4 days at 5°C follows. Alcoholic fermentation proceeds spontaneously with a maximum temperature of 28–30°C. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and in new barrels at 20°C. Afterwards, the wine ages for 14 months in oak barrels on the lees, at 12°C and 75% humidity, with stirring of the lees every 15 days. Bottling: June 2022.

The domain.
Dominio Basconcillos is a family project in Ribera del Duero that distinguishes itself with "vinos de altura" from vineyards around 960 meters. The combination of slopes, thermal differences, and diverse soils (limestone, sandstone, gravel, and clay) yields wines that are both intense and remarkably fresh. The domain operates with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture at altitude, with attention to soil health and biodiversity, so that the purity of the terroir and the freshness of the microclimate are maximally expressed in the wine.
