“Finca de Altura” 2023 is a distinctive Ribera del Duero from high-altitude vineyards, with ripeness and concentration but also striking freshness. On the nose, notes of ripe black cherry, blackberry, and plum, complemented by cocoa, spice, and a mineral touch. On the palate, the wine is broad and fleshy, with a beautiful acidity that provides tension and ripe, soft tannins that give the wine both power and elegance. The finish is long, spicy, and harmonious.
Vinification.
The grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously selected. After a short pre-fermentation maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation follows, with extraction focused on depth without harshness. Malolactic fermentation occurs after alcoholic fermentation, after which the wine ages for approximately 8 months in oak barrels. This is followed by bottle aging before release, ensuring that wood and tannins integrate beautifully and the wine maintains its balance.
The domain.
Dominio Basconcillos is a family project in Ribera del Duero that builds its identity around high-altitude vineyards, where cool nights provide extra freshness and precision. The domain works environmentally consciously with a lot of manual labor, focus on soil health, and attention to biodiversity, so that the wines reflect the purity of their terroir as clearly as possible.
