Vent d’Ange 2022 is a distinctly terroir-driven Chablis combining ripeness with razor-sharp precision. The nose reveals lemon peel, green apple, white peach, and white blossom, complemented by smoky flint and a clear chalky, saline accent. On the palate, the wine is layered and energetic: a deep core of citrus and stone fruit, vibrant acidity, and a firm, mineral structure that gives the wine length and seriousness. The finish is long, taut, and clean, with an almost saline tension typical of great Chablis.

Vinification.
The grapes are hand-harvested from estate vineyards on Kimmeridgian soils. After gentle pressing, the must ferments with indigenous yeasts, with minimal intervention and a very limited addition of sulfites. The wine undergoes an exceptionally long aging on fine lees for about 30 months, with the majority maturing in tanks and a smaller portion in neutral barrels for added texture. After bottling, the wine is further aged in bottle so that it beautifully integrates its tension and complexity before release.

The domain.
Domaine Pattes Loup is the project of Thomas Pico, one of the most idiosyncratic and respected names in Chablis. He works on a small scale and with extreme precision, with a strong focus on old vines, low yields, and a natural approach in the cellar. The vineyards are organically managed with great attention to soil life and biodiversity, and the wines are deliberately bottled late after long aging to achieve greater depth, complexity, and aging potential. Vent d’Ange is a prime example of this: a village Chablis with the character and seriousness of a much higher level.
