Domaine Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2022 is a concentrated yet refined red Burgundy that combines the depth of old vines with the precise, elegant style of the domaine. The nose reveals cherries, raspberries, and riper forest fruits, complemented by floral accents, fine spices, and a subtle earthy and stony undertone. On the palate, the wine is layered and precise, with a beautiful core of pure fruit, fresh tension, and fine but present tannins that provide structure and length. Despite its concentration, the wine remains lively and transparent, with a long finish where fruit, spice, and minerality beautifully converge.

Vinification.
This cuvée comes from old vines, which ensures lower yields, more concentration, and extra depth in the fruit. The vinification is done with great respect for the finesse of Pinot Noir and the expression of the terroir. The grapes are carefully selected, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and then aged in oak barrels, primarily used wood with only a limited proportion of new wood. This approach gives the wine extra texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit. The result is a Gevrey-Chambertin with suppleness, precision, and a beautiful balance between power and elegance.

The domaine.
Domaine Marc Roy is a small but highly regarded domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, now managed by Alexandrine Roy, the fourth generation of the family. The domaine covers only a few hectares and is known for wines that prioritize finesse, transparency, and terroir expression rather than pure power or extraction. The style is exact, refined, and very pure, with great attention to detail in both the vineyard and the cellar.

In terms of sustainability, the domaine employs a distinctly careful and hands-on approach in the vineyard. The soils are ploughed rather than chemically cleared, aiming for more active soil life, deeper root systems, and a clearer expression of the calcareous subsoil. There is a strong focus on manual labor, low yields, and precise monitoring of each plot, with as few unnecessary interventions as possible. This approach is clearly organically inspired and fully dedicated to healthy vines, living soils, and the purest possible translation of the terroir. In the cellar, too, the working method remains restrained and precise, allowing the wine's character to emerge clearly and unadorned.
