Cuvée des Jean Extra Brut is a characterful, gastronomic grower-Champagne that clearly aims to be more “wine” than “bubbles”. The nose reveals notes of apple, pear, and white peach, complemented by hawthorn, a subtle strawberry/compote hint, and fine yeastiness. On the palate, it is crisp and energetic, with a riper Pinot core, fresh acidity, and a dry, slightly saline finish. The aftertaste is clean and persistent, with a beautiful combination of fruit, tension, and digestibility.

Vinification.
The base wine is made using the traditional method and composed of Pinot Noir from multiple vintages to provide consistency and complexity. After the second fermentation in the bottle, the wine matures for at least 24 months sur lattes. The dosage is very low in Extra Brut terms (typically around 2.5–4.5 g/l, depending on disgorgement). After disgorgement, the wine rests in the bottle before release; the exact duration is not specified.

The domain.
Champagne Jean Josselin is a family domain in Gyé-sur-Seine in the Côte des Bar, where Pinot Noir plays the leading role on clay and limestone soils. The cuvée deliberately bears the name “des Jean” as a nod to the generations within the house and their style: fruit-driven, vinous, and honest. In the vineyards, environmentally conscious practices are applied with a focus on healthy soils, extensive manual labor, and targeted limitation of interventions, so that the natural freshness and the terroir identity of the Côte des Bar are directly reflected in the wine.
